Applications in templates

Currently I'm not able to create two different templates (that are not linked to eachother in any way) that add items to existing applications on a host. I would expect zabbix to create the applications if they didn't exist and add them to existing applications in case they do.

Am I using the applications wrong or is this just a bug in zabbix ?

I (and others) brought this up some time ago. You can look at the feature request here:

It looks like the feature is coming in 2.1 which is in alpha.
