    Item values not showing

    Hi All

Since a couple of days I have something strange.

The items I have in my templates are not showing any values when I check the latest data tab in Zabbix

If i run the zabbix_get command with the same item it returns the value but nothing in the frontend. This is only happening for some server which worked fine in the past.

I don't have a decent linux background so I don't have a clue where to start. Can you guys give me a hint?

The logs seem fine as well

Make sure that you your data Filter under Latest Data is empty, otherwise it may lead to you not seeing anything.

The data Filter is a horizontal bar just beneath the Host Group and Host dropdowns.

      hi Pada

Thanks for the tip about the data filter, but that settings was correct.

The last received data fields say "never". Can't find why, since I can "ask" for the value with the zabbix_get command.

The items that should show a value are in a template that is hooked up to 95% of my hosts, it is just not working in the last 7 I have added.

If only I knew where to start looking for a solution That would be a start!

Have a nice day and thanks again

If you're using a Zabbix agent on the host that doesn't have data in Zabbix, then log in on that machine and view its Zabbix agent logs. Under Linux the logs are typically stored at /var/log/zabbix/zabbix_agentd.log

ALso, if you're using a Zabbix agent, you can test the items from the terminal (on the machine that you're trying to monitor) with something like the following:
        Code:
        zabbix_agentd -c /etc/zabbix/zabbix_agentd.conf -t "net.if.out[eth0,bytes]"
        * Replace "net.if.out[eth0,bytes]" with your key that you're trying to monitor, and make sure that /etc/zabbix/zabbix_agentd.conf points to your Zabbix agent's configuration file.

Otherwise, also view the Zabbix server logs at /var/log/zabbix/zabbix_server.log

Lastly, could you perhaps provide more info to your situation/setup? Like what hosts are you trying to monitor and using what type of monitoring (Agent/SNMP/JMX/etc.)

Ok, I am going to give it a Try

I can tell you allready that I am on of those guys that monitors a complete Microsoft Windows domain with Zabbix. The host I am taking about is a windows 2012 file and print server with a windows installation of the zabbix agent.

I am currently checking the setup and trying to run your tests

          Thanks in advance

That error message is telling you that you haven't configured your Active Zabbix agent correctly, because its trying to connect to localhost (for the Zabbix server), unless you are actually hosting the Zabbix server on the same host.

                Yes, True!

                I'll tell you what happend.

I have my technicians install the windows installer via www.suiviperf.com so they only have to click next a few time and fill in the wizard which is the easiest.

Before they only had to type in the ip of the zabbix server in the wizard and then the config-file configured automatically, but there is an input field that they skipped that made the zabbix agent monitor the wrong host.

                Case solved!

                Thanks for the help!!
