The future of nodes and proxies

    hello,

I can not remember where I read about this (or maybe is over-zabbixed symptom .

Are zabbix team planning to remove nodes and replace them with proxies in next releases?

    Thanks

      it's described here:

zabbix master<->node setup will be removed and there is no planning available if and when something similar will be available.

so in case go for master<->proxy setup

Just also want to add, in a recent Zabbix webminar I asked if proxies would be affected by upcoming changes. The answer was no, if you're using proxies or planning to use proxies... use proxies.

It is only node configurations that will be affected.

          EDIT:
Also, according to https://www.zabbix.org/wiki/Docs/specs/ZBXNEXT-1343 the upgrade path for Node setups is to standalone installation, not to a proxy configuration, the frontend display will remove 'Administration->DM->Nodes' and rename 'Administration->DM' to 'Administration->Proxies' which is more of a menu change then replacing nodes with proxies.
