Pagination on latest data page, Zabbix 2.2.4, and hosts with *many* items.

    Greetings,

Recently I decided to update to Zabbix 2.2-series (2.2.4 to be specific), and it was nice to see how much faster it is.

However, there was a change that was not good at all for me: when you open the "latest data" area, it now tries to load all the info at once...

That may be fine for most people, but I have over 650k monitored items, and unfortunately I had the filter set to all hosts and all groups, so... I am now unable to access that area (latest data), even after increasing php memory limit to 3GB.

Additionally, I have some hosts that has over 100k items (not a lot of them, but I do have at least two of these). Lets just not start with the "are you sure you need to monitor all of that", because I already went through it: I have to monitor all of that, unfortunately, and due to limitations on how LLD works, I had no better way of organizing that (had to put all of these items under a single "application"), and I was using the Filters in Latest Data page to access what I needed.

Now, even though my immediate problem is how to get the "latest data" page back without having to double (or triple) my server's RAM, I have this suggestion, that have been in my head for far too long (since ~2.0.1 release):

Pagination on the latest data page.

Something relatively simple, like what you have on the Configuration -> Hosts area, would be just fine.

    What do you think?

I agree with you. It doesn't make sense to load and display 650K+ items on one page...

Well, this is necessary also on popups windows where you select items. Of course, this is less problematic, it only required a few minutes to load, and ~1.5GB RAM on server (and a bit more on client) to load the host with ~200k items.

I think pagination is really necessary.
