How-To Videos for Zabbix 4.2 (short - clear - easy to follow)

How-To Videos for Zabbix 4.2 (short - clear - easy to follow)
I am new to Zabbix & still trying to get my first working Zabbix running.
The on-line Videos for Zabbix 4.2 how-tos are few to be found for a newbie like me.
I watched an hour long Zabbix video and had all kinds of problems trying to follow the video while configuring a fresh Zabbix (4.2) system. The screens were not matching what my Zabbix (4.2) was showing. It was only after hours of multiple failures that I figured out that a Zabbix 2.4 video had little in common with a Zabbix 4.2 system.
    I would like to see 3 or 4 eazy-to-follow Zabbix 4.2 videos.
Video-Zabbix-4.2-Video1; follow Video and use provided video instructions to build a fresh new Zabbix 4.2 from scratch.
Video-Zabbix-4.2-Video2; how to add a host and monitor that host using icmp-ping -and- how to put that host in a map.
Video-Zabbix-4.2-Video3; how to monitor host interfaces (up/down status) using SNMP.
Video-Zabbix-4.2-Video4; alerts and alert messages when a host has a monitored problem/host-interface-down

it would be nice if on-line Zabbix videos would indicate the Zabbix version number in the name of the videos.

I am a total Zabbix newbie trying to understand Zabbix basic essentials , where simple easy-to-follow instructions are sure much wanted & needed.

    My two cents ...

FYI - In a few years , I hope to be a Zabbix guru.

Official Zabbix YouTube channel uses latest LTS (4.0) version or latest released (4.2)
    Have you checked them out?

Also Zabbix runs regular webinars including very essentials.
Our free webinars cover the Zabbix monitoring solution from many angles and are available in multiple languages.

      Hi Tom,
Dane makes a good point about the YouTube channel and the webinars - thanks Dane.
Zabbix also run excellent courses from basic operator level through to expert level. Having completed both the Zabbix Certified Specialist and Certified Professional courses (and passed the exams thankfully) I genuinely recommend them.

Having said that, I do see your point. Having a "fast track to success" from the type of videos you suggest is very worthwhile. It gives an individual more motivation to explore and build their own knowledge. Success breeds success as they say.

Installing and configuring Zabbix is definitely a steep learning curve.
I've been using some ipswitch WhatsUp Gold systems to monitor my networks. The issue with WhatsUp Gold is that I was quoted $25+ thousand dollars to upgrade my older 2,500 host system to the newest/latest version of WhatsUp Gold. So, hmmm, $25+ thousand to upgrade or Zabbix for free ??? So that is why I am now turning up a Zabbix system.
I like to draw lots of detailed network maps and show how everything is interconnected. Zabbix appears to do this OK. One thing I have not figured out yet is how Zabbix shows a problem host on a network map. WhatsUp Gold maps indicates problem hosts with red icons in the maps and green icons for functioning hosts. In Zabbix, I have not yet figured out yet how to indicate a problem host when looking at a map.
Re on-line videos on Zabbix, it's been a challenge when watching a video showing an older version of Zabbix and trying to locate the same settings on my newer version of Zabbix.
Just like most new projects (including my new Zabbix system), google searches and a strong will to try, re-try, re-try & rebuild and try try again is something that all of us have to go through. I'm pretty confident things will eventually click together and in the end, I know Zabbix will become more understood for what I need it to do in my IPS/WISP networks.

Re Zabbix courses, I am very interested. Normally I like to get a feel and basic understanding of a software platform prior to any classes so that I will already have an idea what I may need to focus my study activities towards.
At this time, I am able to test hosts with ICMP pings. Next step is testing interface up/down using SNMP - then sending alerts and clearly showing detected host problems in the Zabbix network maps. ((( I just have to learn to think how to do things the Zabbix way instead of the WhatsUp Gold way.)))

Yes, Zabbix courses are very useful, from 1 day long online-held Zabbix Certified User which basically teaches you how to naviagate arround Zabbix web GUI to instructor-led 3 days Zabbix Certfied Specialist and 2 days Zabbix Certified Professional who teach you a lot of useful stuff and include trainers sharing their own experience and real use cases of Zabbix. There's also a 3 day course Zabbix Certified Expert which is for very experienced people - that one you can take later. But ZCS and ZCP are highly recommended, they are usually held together for 5 days workweek course. Each course ends with exam.
Zabbix certified training is the fastest way to gain expertise, no matter what your current knowledge level.

Tom, what do you mean by "build"? Compile Zabbix from sources or just install it using packages?
Zabbix has installation videos, there is no difference between installing 4.0 or 4.2
        Here it is:

Small prerequisite to all things Zabbix - you need some basic Linux and Unix knowledge.
At the very least you should not be confused by CLI interface and know how to use it.
