Suggestion about monitoring - auto neglect down interfaces

the auto discovery rules for snmp interfaces is a quite helpful feature. but when the switches and routes have many down interfaces (those not used yet) , zabbix still sends query to those items continuously, which consume a lot resources.
if zabbix auto neglects down interfaces, it will be much more kind.

It can be done by regexp filtering, i think.
Filtered interfaces will be not created as items, and will not consume any resources.

thanks. I did so, regexp was not that handful when you have a number of switches. what's worse is when you change the template , you need to filter them once more.

I dont really know, will it help you or not, but you can make a discovery script that will return smth like
        Code:
        {#INTERFACE}: "0/0",
        {#STATUS}:"DOWN"
        and filter it in zabbix.
