    Actions within Hosts

    Hi,

I'm deploying a system to replace an old monitoring system at a customer.

One thing I like about their really old solution is that you can do actions when you are configuring hosts.

So, rather than going into Configuration -> Actions and create multiple actions per host and having a huge long list (and then filtering of course), it would be great if they were all in one place.

That could even be expanded to create actions based on templates.

For example, if you want to create an action that runs commands on the host being monitored, then it can become fairly tedious and error prone to create, for example, 5 sets of actions for 5 hosts.

Right now I have a log monitor which scans a log for "error" and then excludes certain variants. When it finds an error, a trigger is raised, an action is then run which runs a script to handle the errors, collects more information about processes and fires off an email from the host being monitored. Each of the log files are in different locations on the 5 hosts, so these actions have to be manually.... But there are Development, UAT and Production areas...

Having templated, host based actions would be incredibly useful here.

    Cheers,
    S.
