Zabbix 1.1.2 Windows Agent

Hi Alexei,

Thanks for the 1.1.2 update. I'm working on installing it.. I noticed though that the windows32 agent is reporting that it is release 1.1.1.. did I do something wrong or was that just missed when it was updated?

Yes, sorry for this. The Windows agent is reporting 1.1.1 while it is real 1.1.2.

Agent version

Hi Alexei,

is it possible to add the version number for the windows agent in the windows standard way so that we can get it with right mouse, properties ?
This makes live easier. I have written a script to update the Windows agent automatically, but it is quite difficult to get the version out of the file.

I just have the agent version as one of my collected items and just view the data overview to see which servers I have left to update. key is agent.version

yes thats right, I know.

I have a .vbs script that is doing for me the whole update automatically.

Checking the zabbix server by ftp for a new version.
get it, check against the installed version
Deiinstall old version, install new version if necessary
With the same script I do a new install, the config file is created with the
right hostname in it automatically.
I have now > 15 zabbixW32 running, the update was before quite time consuming. It has become more easy.

Next step will be to run this from zabbix agent as action.
On windows it was quite tricky to get the version out of the file.
I did not found a good way, thats why I asked Alexei to add this.

The background was an autoupdate feature.

It would save me from having to write one myself + my vb is pretty sketchy

I put in the cookbook.

If you have problems, just ask.

The vbs stuff depends on, how up to date your environment is.

So on servers where not IE6 is installed you may have old .vbs version.
You can install the vbs version 5.6 without IE6.
