Hello,
I think a great idea to simplify alot of the monitoring scripts outthere is to add the functionionality to zabbix-agent2 to be able to read from a unix socket (similar to socat).
Benefits?
* Can operate in a similar fashion as web.page.get to get the stats from various services
* Gets rid of lots of additional scripts and userparameters
* Does allow the agent to get the data directly from the source
* Only requires a template on the zabbix server side to enable monitoring services with stats socks
Cost?
The cost might be relatively low for what it provides, as i am assuming that the docker plugin does something similar (but admittingly i didnt have time to look)
What are your thoughts?
