    Graph Annotations

    Hi all,

just wondering if annotations on a graph would be useful for anyone?

Use case: CPU, Memory, Network graphs on a server; a new version of an application installed, including bug fixes, new features etc... you mark on the graph when the new application was configured on the server so you can see a before and after.

I personally think that, whilst it wouldn't affect many users, this type of thing would allow visibility of any impacts to the dev/product to see if any memory leaks were introduced, cpus are being overly used ...etc.

    Cheers,
    Sven

Useful. Already available in Grafana if you're using that.

I think that would definitely be useful. So many times I have tracked a problem down to a certain point in time, resolved the issue just to find out that there was a log entry in our asset management system indicating that another tech installed some sort of update or software at almost the exact time the issue started. Would have been much quicker and easier to identify if we had this information consolidated in one location.

No - not using Grafana here.

However - I am thinking I may need to try it. A lot of people seem to be using this, and it may do some of what I'm thinking of doing.

That would be another package to install, configure and maintain, so the thought of including some key functionality back into Zabbix would mean less to manage.
