    Zabbix Debian Jessis Repo

    Hi,

Now that Debian Jessie 8.0 has released what is the timescale for getting a package repo for zabbix? I want to install 2.4 but the official jessie repos only include 2.2 and I have been using the zabbix repos with wheezy.

I have tried using your wheezy repo with jessie but the packages will not install due to libsnmp15 having been replaces with libsnmp30 in Jessie.

    Thanks

    Hello,

I am stuck for the same reason here.
Can Zabbix team tell us if 2.4 version is compatible with libsnmp30 Debian package (5.7.2.1+dfsg-1) ? If yes we could force install without checking the dependancy to libsnmp15 package ?
    Thank you.

I'm pretty sure it will work with libsnmp30 as the ubuntu packages for Trusty depend on libsnmp30 rather than libsnmp15.

        So we could test :
        - force install debian packages
        - install Ubuntu packages

Same problem here, I'd like to install native debian package for jessie using the libsnmp30. I tried installing the sid packages which use libsnmp30, they also installed without errors but the server would not start.

Please provide zabbix 2.4.5 as jessie debian package sweet zabbix team

My current solution was to build zabbix from source and install it and its services. We definitely need a proper Jessie package.

In case anyone is wondering, this is how I built it:

            ./configure --enable-server --enable-agent --with-mysql --enable-ipv6 --with-net-snmp --with-libcurl --with-libxml2 --with-openipmi --with-ssh2 --with-unixodbc --enable-java --sysconfdir="/etc/zabbix"

Then I created links to the folders on /usr/share/ (and so on) so it mirrors the package install, so I can easily replace it with the package when it comes out.

              sniff

Yes would be nice to see zabbix 2.4 for jessie un the zabbix repo.

I've upgraded a machine from wheezy to jessie this morning and lost zabbix server 2.4 in the process.

Only 2.2 is available in the debian repo and none is available for jessie in the zabbix repo :'(

Actually I've rebuilt the .deb packages from the debian stretch zabbix sources and it works well so far.

Would still be nice to have it in the official repo

What does this say about zabbix?

I too would love to see the debian official repos. I had switched over to the official repos after having my own packages for many years. Now, I am starting to regret that decision.

I concur that building a local repo works (or building from source code), but it speaks volumes when zabbix officially supports new releases of distros (or doesn't).

Does this mean that zabbix can't handle new releases?
Does this mean that zabbix won't support debian jessie?
Does this mean that zabbix just isn't aware of their users needs?

                    Inquiring minds want to know.

Now there are 2 months since debian jessie was released - and there is still no official zabbix repo. No great achievement...

Hi, just today I've found out I'd made a little mistake when upgrading a server to Jessie two weeks ago (testing the upgrade) - I hadn't changed the apt repository definition for zabbix (left wheezy instead of jessie there) and zabbix agent worked flawlessly. Today I have returned the server to puppet management and ... I have been looking for a reason why my zabbix version has been downgraded.

Now with the changed repo definition in puppet zabbix agent is again running version 2.4.

Don't know about the server/proxy but I would suggest to give it a try. I think all the necessary dependencies are met so the wheezy version could work.

It is working for you with Wheezy repos as you will still have libsnmp15 installed from before your upgrade to Jessie. It will not install in a clean install of Jessie without manually installing libsnmp15 from wheezy.

Hmm, I see - but that's only for the server and/or proxy. Agent can be installed and running without it, I have already deployed it to a clean Jessie install as well and it looks ok to me. The library is libsnmp30:amd64.

The reason why zabbix repos haven't been updated is zabbix actually has native jessie packages at this point. Just remove the repo from /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ and run apt-get update and you're good.
