There are packages in the official Debian repos going back to Squeeze but they lag behind the latest version.

Jessie in the debian repos is on Zabbix 2.2 rather than 2.4 - hence why we would like the zabbix repos to provide packages for Jessie.

      Zabbix Jessie Repo

I haven't seen an official announcement but a repo for Jessie has appeared on http://repo.zabbix.com/zabbix/2.4/debian/dists/

Has anyone been using this? Is it good to go or should I remain with the one I'm building from source?

Sadly, the zabbix team doesn't either confirm nor deny jessie support, even after all this time. The only mention of jessie is on the repositories, and can't be found on their website or the official documentation.

Yes, we are using it for our monitored servers and so far no problem. Our monitoring server is still running wheezy.

However - Jessie is something of a strange bird, it looks like it's ignored by many players. Just to mention some - we are fighting with Dell OMSA, I'm told Nagios has quirks there, Zabbix is almost silent of its support for it etc. It's strange, I can't remember a Debian release being so ignored.

Yep. I have just begun to setup a new monitoring for a customer here with zabbix 2.4
I simply created /etc/apt/sources.list.d/zabbix.list with the following content.
            # Zabbix Sources
deb http://repo.zabbix.com/zabbix/2.4/debian/ jessie main contrib non-free

From there I did an install from scratch as it is a new system.
            Works good so far.

            Cheers!

            -sd
