Discussion thread for official Zabbix Template VMWARE

Hi everyone,
I think there's something wrong with news VMWARE template (5.4 version) :

When you look at the doc : https://www.zabbix.com/documentation.../vm_monitoring
here :
Templates for VMware vCenter and ESX hypervisor monitoring:

• VMware - uses UUID data for corresponding macros;
• VMware FQDN - uses FQDN data for corresponding macros.

But when I import vmware : https://git.zabbix.com/projects/ZBX/...tes/app/vmware
there's no template VMWARE at all...
I have only 3 : VMware macros, VMware Hypervisor and VMware Guest

If I try with FQDN version : https://git.zabbix.com/projects/ZBX/...pp/vmware_fqdn
i have a new template called VMware FQDN

My question : is it normal or I do something wrong ?

Confirmation of the problem : it works with templates from 5.2 version...

what is the best practice for monitoring VMs? When using the official Template it will create host objects for each VM, but those cannot be extended with interfaces. So I cannot use Agent2 and SNMP to get further details from the VMs, specifically on Docker containers.

Currently I manually created a second host object for each VM that uses the templates I cannot use with the host objects automagically created by the vmware templates. This seems cumbersome. Is there a better solution with the VMware templates?

I have seen VmBix and vPoller, both projects seem interesting but haven't been touched/updated in many years. Is anyone using them with Zabbix 6.2?
