    Kernel 2.6 > 2.4

I updated Debian 3.1's kernel today from 2.4.27 to 2.6.17.

Had an immense change in performance...

All the other variables (MySQL 5.0.24, Apache 2.0.55, PHP 4.4.2) are unchanged.

The gap was while I was making sure everything was still a 'ok.

So my suggestion would be to recommend kernel 2.6 vs 2.4.
