    Template Management/Updates

As I read in the docs, when we update Zabbix, the templates dont get updated. It does make sense, since they might also break things, if we have changed the parameters. But I have an old installation of zabbix, that has been upgraded over the years, I am sure my templates probably all need updating.

There must be a better way to manage this. At the very least show which templates are out of date or compare the newest to current.

Anyone else want to chime in on this?

Yep, templates management is not really convenient at this moment. I've been upgrading my Zabbix from 5.0 LTS to 5.4 and I've had to update some templates and resolve dependencies manually. I think in that case Zabbix can't give you an easy way to do this. Looks like bad software architecture decision to me.

Probably would be easier to export your hosts/actions etc if you don't have a lot of them and move to a new installation.

If you want to compare changes, you can check their git repository:
Real-time monitoring of IT components and services, such as networks, servers, VMs, applications and the cloud. - File not found · zabbix/zabbix

Also, starting with 5.4 when you import new version of the same template, it gives you a review of diff between versions:

Well, I think there's no fast way to do this. You either have to import new one and it will show the diff (for 5.4's YAML templates) or export your current template, download the new one from repository and compare manually using diff, Meld or whatever instrument you prefer. Also if you didn't change the template you're currently using after installing the old version of Zabbix, I think you can compare templates directly in different repository branches (if you know how to work with git repos, which I don't really).
