How to put interfaces in maintenance mode

I am trying to put three access switches and the corresponding distributions switch interfaces in maintenance mode.
The access switches are no problem. Just list them in the maintenance dialogue.
But how can I add the three individual interfaces in the distribution switch?
The interfaces are created with templates och LLD so I can´t put any tags on them.

What exactly stops you from setting tags in prototypes? You can use LLD macros in tags in item and trigger prototypes... Set a tag with interface name and use that in maintenance

If maintenance tags are specified, maintenance for the selected hosts will be activated, but only problems with matching tags will be suppressed (i.e. no actions will be taken).

Well, your remark will stop any tagging from workable solution. Then I have to use tags on the access switches as well.
I don´t see a simple solution to this.

I assume (based on the "Then I have to use tags on the access switches as well") all those switches are in same hostgroup? Then yes.. It may require tagging everything... Or separating different types switches to different groups..
I do see some shortcomings in my suggestion...

For me the whole maintenance is up side down. From the system we have today, I am used to list all the triggers and then put them in maintenance time window.
I feel, as a network engineer, that Zabbix maintenance feature isn´t flexable enough.

Is it just simpler to turn off the triggers of interest on the dist switch?
But you have to remember to turn them on.
