Allow linked template overrides or variable Host Groups

    Hello,

I'm facing an issue where I'm having to create multiple clones of each Template in order to be able to sort devices into their respective Host Group.

My use case is as a MSP, monitor of several customers and every Host Group is a different Customer. Because it is mandatory to select a Host Group when creating a Host Prototype under Discovery Rules of the Templates, I have to full clone the base template for each customer I have so that I can select the correct Host Group for that customer on the Host Prototype.

This would be solved if I could change the device Host Group after with is automatically discovered by a Discovery Rule or at least less of an issue if I was able to link the Customer specific template to the base template and only override the Host Group setting under the Host Prototype.

    Best Regards,

To manage different customer devices without cloning templates, you could use a feature that lets you change the device’s group after it’s found by a discovery rule. Or, link a customer-specific template to your main template and just change the group setting for the host prototype. Dog blog
