VMWare Template - Make "Monitored by" changeable

We are using the VMWare templates to monitor our ESX cluster.
Like many others I guess, we host our DMZ servers on the same ESX cluster like the internal servers. SNMP, Ping etc is blocked between the internal servers and DMZ except for a Zabbix Proxy.
The VMWare template discovers all servers including the DMZ servers and creates them but the field "Monitored by" is read only. TO be able to monitor the DMZ servers I need to change this field to "Proxy". Is there any way how I can make this field changeable?

No there is no such way.. VM- s either inherit interface from parent or agent IF is set by discovery... but there is no mechanism to choose, what proxy can be used..
vmware template has no snmp items as long as I can see... and ping is only towards hypervisor.. rest of data is obtained from vCenter...

as workaround you can define those agents with a bit different name and point to specific proxy. Anyway the information, what you get from vCenter and from agent, differ...

According to the screenshot in the official documentation there should be a dropdown menu "Monitored by Proxy" in Host Prototype:

When I create a new host prototype, I don't have this dropdown.

At least it would be a very useful feature if they allow us to edit this field manually or even better via discovery action. I am sure we are not the only ones who run DMZ VMs on the same cluster with internal VMs and where the DMZ VMs are not reachable from the monitoring system itself but only via proxy server.

But even on that pic it looks kind of not changeable.. grayed out.. Pic might be from some older versions..

We don't use vmware templates for monitoring, everything is directly from agents...
