Hello everyone...
I am currently facing a major configuration problem.
I think it would be a great benifit To reapproach the host configuration issue.
Wouldnt it be better if I could
associate a host with several templates insted on relying on template linkage.
please try to follow my reasoning for that.
Lets say we have 100 servers. half of the are dell and half hp
OS will be windows for this example.
I will use the zabbixw32 agent and a template for all of them for basic testing.
and will add two more templates with snmp specific to dell & hp.
So far aint a big problem..
But now the issue starts to surface ...
some of the servers ( doesnt matter which hardware) have drive e: insted of d: ( dumb $%$ sys admin)
servral of them have 4 cpu
some have even more logical drives.
and etc.. etc.
since template linkage is linear .. it wont solve my problem..
And the main thing that will happen the queue will backlog and , well I think you know the rest.
many times I encounter a specific item that stop all the rest of the items for that host.
maybe it would be fixed.. but the problem with associating items will remain.
I hoped I sum it right.
