    Weird proxy group behavior

    Hello,
I have been using Zabbix for a few months, recently I updated to 7.2.3 and added 2 proxies for seperate geographical locations.
Quickly I noticed that hosts keep migrating between proxies on their own, across proxy groups, which pretty much defeats the purpose of seperating them.
The guide said assigning hosts to proxies directly disables this load balancing feature, but thats not true.
Is load balancing just forced on? Is this a bug? I dont want hosts to talk to proxies that are across the country.
The domains for all proxies are present in the config so I dont have to upkeep multiple, is that an issue?

If you add one proxy to config, then agent will turn to it... if that proxy is part of group and host is also said to be monitored by a group, then that group gets things sorted out among themselves and forwards required things and you get things monitored...
If that host is said to be monitored by a a single proxy (be it part of group or not), then it should be staying monitored by that single proxy only .. But you should not have all your proxies mentioned in config. It causes multiple registrations etc... so it will be a mess...

In agent config just set the proxy you want to use.

Hello, thank you for your reply,
wont setting a single server in the config make the webinterface-side configuration useless for active agents?
The agent wont know to connect to a different proxy, and the proxy it thinks its assigned to will just reply that the hostname wasnt found.

There is option to choose, is that agent monitored by proxy or by proxy group...

And of course, dont add those new proxies to proxy group, if you dont want them there... I don't remember there being any options in proxy config file about groups...

            Thank you for replying.
Thats the thing I tried to stop it from migrating between proxies, but it still happened.
Guille said I shouldnt have the address of the other proxies in every agent config file, maybe thats the issue?
I am using autoregistration, so maybe the Hosts keep registering over and over on the proxies with each check?

All proxies as "ServerActive" ? yea, that will cause issues
I think it is even said in config file right beside the parameter
"More than one Zabbix proxy should not be specified from each Zabbix server/cluster"

I see that makes a lot of sense then thank you.
I assume the regular method would be to just point it at one server and that one sends the correct proxy adress with the active check configuration?
Or do active agents only really work with proxies by manually settings them?

I thought the host proxy configuration was meant to be actually used to move hosts as I want, not to just set the one proxy its meant to use.
Thank you for your help I'll try again after making these changes.

Hello, yeah having multiple servers in the active row was the issue, I fixed it quickly by just blocking the unwanted networks on the proxies.

Im not sure what you are talking about, this post is about specific issues as a result of faulty agent configuration.
If you make your own post about it I'm sure people can help with compatibility questions
