I've done several searches but have not found anything on this topic.
Why is there not the functionality to manually select which items you want to monitor on a host?
I'm fairly new to Zabbix but have been learning and testing it extensively for several months now and have noticed everything seems to have be done via Discovery and automatically adding items/triggers etc.
It seems like you should be able to add a host, assign a template(s) that do have discovery rules that run and gather all of the information on a host. Say all of the network interfaces, and then allow you to manually pick which ones you want. Then once you submit that, the server will then add all of those items, along with all the rest of the prototypes for triggers, graphs etc.
It seems very time consuming and cumbersome trying to tweak discovery rules for each scenario of host you need to configure.
