we already have working packages for Debian Unstable but i prefer
to wait for 1.4.1 until the outstanding issues reported in the last days
    have been fixed, before uploading.

I agree very much. We have several critial issues with 1.4 despite of extensive testing. Please, wait for 1.4.1.

        Eta?

When are they expecting to release 1.4.1? I've been given the project from our higher ups to install and test a Zabbix box and they are pushing hard. I've been stuck as we had significant issues compiling and running the 1.4 build.

These issues are mainly related to WEB monitoring and auto discovery functionality. It do not mean that ZABBIX 1.4 cannot be used in your environment.

I expect ZABBIX 1.4.1 to be released within two weeks.

            okay

I see. One of our chief needs is auto-discovery though. Do you happen to know the link on the forums that talks about these issues and possible workarounds? Perhaps i'll give compiling it from source another go.
