Awesome, I've been looking for a comprehensive guide exactly like this. I'm going to use this tomorrow, hopefully without problems.

      zabbix 1.4

sounds good, I'm going to update it within a day or two to include setup instructions for zabbix 1.4 as well.

That would be great. I was going to try it with 1.4 anyway. How much different is it with 1.4?

Where did /var/apps/installs come from? Did you just create that directory yourself and place the tarballs you downloaded there?

            directories

            Yes

I also run all my apps from /var/apps/apache2 for example or /var/apps/zabbix14

            it works for me

              Update Soon

              Hello,

I will be updating the wiki this week for freebsd 6.2 with zabbix 1.4.1

I also want to add a guide for PCBSD. The reason being is that within 25 minutes I had freebsd 6.1+apache+php+mysql all installed. It takes well over 2 hours at minimum compiling from source

It takes 48 seconds to compile ZABBIX on a somewhat busy Linux box provided all third-party software is already installed

                    configure

yes zabbix is fast to compile but apache, mysql, and php take a bit lol.

I'm doing this on a slow machine, low range p3 with 256mb of ram. Thats why it takes me soo long lol.
