Misleading graph header in 'Screen' option

i created a graph in Configuration >> Graphs
this graph contains a Similar Item from Different Hosts

i create a Screen in Configuration >> Screens
i insert the above graph and no matter which option i choose from "Resource = Graph" drop-down menu, a Host name will always be displayed in front

it is misleading coz sometimes the graph title meant to be
Top 5 Hosts with 'AB' process High mem utilization

now in Zabbix 1.4, the problem is the display will be EITHER
Host 1: Top 5 Hosts with 'ABC' process High mem utilization
or Host 2: Top 5 Hosts with 'ABC' process High mem utilization
or Host 3: Top 5 Hosts with 'ABC' process High mem utilization etc....

What is your suggestion? What should be displayed in this situation?

      solution

graphs created from (Configuration >> create Graphs) have title named by the zabbix user and Hosts (pointing to the related graph) wil be displayed in summary of all graphs webpage.

      eg. host_1, host_2, host_3 | graph title |

somehow when user adds a graph to Screen (use Resource = Graph), a Host name will get appended : followed by the graph title.

      Therefore solution: remove the Host:Title
just leave the Title on the graph. If i'm not wrong, Resoure = Simple graph -> graph allows user to display a target item graph, therefore the Host : Title is a 'duplicated' feature.

probably u can omit those Host: <Title> choices from drop-down menu just leave the <title> of the graph as in Configuration >> Graphs

      cheers

        I agree

I agree, I would just get rid of the host name in the graph title, and simply leave the title on any graphs that have multiple hosts.

This graph title problem is currently generating much stupidity in our environment with the naming of hosts to things based on producing pretty graph titles.

I looked at 1.6.1 and it seems to still have this issue, unless I missed something.

            I would have to agree.

Ideally templated graphs should support {HOSTNAME} expansion to deal with the case where you really want a graph for a particular host -- but i'd prefer to not have this feature at all rather than have it by default everywhere.

I think there should be the ability to override the graph title altogether. I agree the default configuration does not work for edge cases (in this case it's a pretty common and big edge). Most often I have found the current naming convention horrible to deal with when you're dealing with network switches. Switch1:if01... What the heck is that? Is that my Router, my vpn server, another switch, or something else? With the current setup I cannot get around this either. I did a custom descriptor patch for 1.4.x but that didn't gain much traction. I should revisit this patch again, maybe do it a little differently this time.
