Circular data & statistics?

Hiya,

How about adding circular data & statistics capability. ie. a wind vanes direction can be anywhere between 0 to 360 degrees. 0 degrees and 360 degrees are identical angles, so that for example 180 degrees is not a sensible mean of 2 degrees and 358 degrees.

This would be useful for me, for monitoring some weather data, are there any other uses that could be applied?

Possibly, something like a rose diagram for the charting. Special functions would probably be an averaging function, max and minimum values wouldn't apply, that's about it I guess.

It seems to be very specific requirement. Not sure if it ever be implemented without higher demand or a commercial support.
