    Hi all,

there is any news about export map, screen and silde ?
I export all my maps with help of phpmyadmin, I export the tables sysmaps sysmaps_links and sysmaps_elements, but it should be great if it can be into zabbix GUI in export/import menu.
It's borring to create map, and when it's done there is no-way to create backup.

So if can add export map, screen and slide in future version it ll be great.

    Best Regards.

Yep, that's pretty much the only way it can be done now. The graph items are closely tied to the host and trigger id's so export is somewhat of a programming challenge, but possible.

        Short answer. No.

Long answer, probably, but it would require a lot of programming if someone was willing to tackle the problem. I think that would make for an awesome feature to add.

Thats a shame as your right that would be one massive feature that im sure anyone who uses Visio would appreciate.

I did see somewhere on the forums that you can export the Visio stencil icons if you save them as png which is a start i guess.

Looking forward to getting the product up and running.

I recall seeing the same post.

I'll have to dig around and see how hard it would be to import a visio drawing. I'm sure it's not simple, but I'm curious about just how hard it would be.

Given that the Visio file format isn't supported even by OpenOffice or Inkscape, I think the answer to this is going to be 'no'. You may have more luck exporting a Visio file as something other than .vsd, but if you're collaborating with a group of people on a diagram then it can be hard to explain to them why they should change the way they work just to suit you.

What Zabbix needs is to be able to import something SVG-based for the maps so they can be manipulated with external tools like Inkscape, or even sed and perl when you need to duplicate a map and modify items on a large scale. I think putting effort in to support Microsoft's byzantine file formats would be a waste, primarily because Zabbix isn't a vector drawing tool, but also because you can do great things with Inscape, which runs everywhere [with plenty of RAM...] and is free.
