    We've looked at using Raspberry PI's as proxies and they do work quite well. Can easily be powered off a USB port on a server and have more than enough power for a small to medium site.

        If you run the debian that comes as one of the options then can either just use the deb packages or compile your own... We've just done that it it worked fine... Not currently using it though as the rasps are doing something else.
