Some possible ideas for future releases of Zabbix

Alexei thanks for all the work you have done with Asterisk! Our office has really started to use it as a network tool to diagnose and detect problems. I just had a few thoughts about additions to Zabbix that would really help us, and hopefully others:

Allow choosing a media type for a Trigger's Action.

While I suppose you can sort the types of media used with the severity checkboxes, it would be nice to be able to select which type of media you want a specific trigger to use instead of lumping them all into one severity type. Maybe a series of check boxes, one for each type of media you have defined.

Add a downtime page

It would be nice to be able to quickly stop all items and triggers on one or many hosts. This way, if I knowingly restart a machine, I can tell Zabbix about it before hand so I don't trip the host down Trigger I have set.

Increase the Admin loggout time, or make it an option

I spend most of my day with a Zabbix window open, and usually want to be logged in as Admin. Currently you get booted to Guest after some period of time (can't remember now if it is 15 or 30 mins). It would be nice to have the option to disable this measure for one or more user accounts.

Well, those are my thoughts. Take them as you will. Obviously these are largely cosmetic changes to the system that serve mainly to speed up functionality. Thanks for your time, and keep up the excellent work!

Great suggestions Nate! At our site, the Downtimes page would be especially useful.

I'd like to add a couple of suggestions myself. I've been working alot in Zabbix this week and some small usability improvements would save a lot of time.

1) Would it be possible to have more information in the browser titlebar as to the current screen, e.g. :

Say I'm in Items for the printer myprinter, currently, I have :

"Configuration of items" in the titlebar. Instead :
"Zabbix - Configuration of items for myprinter" would, IMHO, be more useful.

2) There needs to be a faster way to switch between the different screens that describe a host, especially in the Latest data or Triggers screens. I've attached a suggestion below where basically you'd have the name of the host at the top left of the screen with a summary of its status (items, triggers, events). Clicking on, say "2 TRUE Triggers" would bring you to the Triggers screen for that host.

Currently, creating an Item for a host and then getting to the Trigger creation screen for that Host/Item takes about 4 clicks, this modification would bring it down to 1.

I belive this is something to be implemented on a SLA, not on a host level. Business actually doesn't care about health of individual servers if the whole thing (service) work

Set the logout time to 0 and that will disable it.
