Zabbix... What you check every day ?

Hello Guys....

I'm using zabbix since 6 mouth ... and it works very well.

I'm start it for monitoring some device like windows servers.... and some easy items like disk space, cpu , uptime .

Ok... now the question is :

Zabbix works well and made many checks.... but what you check in your environment ?

from a zabbix novice to now

1st few months on Zabbix :
i added template_windows and template_linux on servers. basically check all that is valid on zabbix default templates.

next few months on Zabbix :
disable those items/tiggers that i dun need, eg multiple processor load avg 5, avg 10 and avg 15. i just choose either one interval time.

next few months :
disable all items on templates and only enable items like diskspace, load, cpu time, system uptime....ONLY

now currently :
tweaks more items/ triggers to suit my needs. enable certain items check like Apache and MySQL for certain servers having such services...

ZABBIX is my 24/7 eye for:

• Servers
• UPS
• Switches
• Router

Currently I monitor both servers and desktops, Linux and Windows. I monitor everything from production number crunching servers to a MythTV box.

As for what I monitor on those systems, most of them are standard templates with a few trappers added in. One group of systems is a highly customized version of the Linux template.
