No Values available (Server: Debian, Agent ubuntu)

    Hello,

I have a Problem with this configuration:

Zabbix-Server is running on a Debian machine. It is installed via apt-get and is the version 1:1.1.4-10etch1

The Agent is running on a Ubuntu machine. It is also installed via apt-get and is the version 1:1.4.1-2ubuntu0.1

But only what I see in the frontend is:

Host information 27 May 12:04:11 ZBXD
Host name 27 May 12:04:11 ZBXD
    Host status 27 May 12:04:05 0
Version of zabbix_agent(d) running 27 May 12:04:05 ZBXD

Do you have any informations or tricks for me?

I love Debian so very very much. However, one of it's biggest strengths is also one of it's biggests weaknesses.
Running Debian stable (etch in this case) means that the packages are rock solid and secure. It also means that the packages are forever and a day old.
    Check out the differences: http://packages.debian.org/etch/zabbix-server-mysql

In the top right of that page you can click to see the package within the other variations (testing/unstable/ect).

So what does all of this mean?
The current stable version of Zabbix is 1.4.5.
The version Etch is using is 1.1.4.
The version in Ubuntu is 1.4.1.

There are several posts on the forum where users have had issues with agents/servers jumping across that gap (from 1.1 to 1.4). It is much better to have them all one or the other.

If you are using Zabbix in an environment where you trust Debian Etch as stable and secure then I highly recommend that you downgrade the agents to the 1.1.4 agent. If you are OK with updating the server to the latest version, then I highly recommend using this post from the Zabbix wiki. I have used it with all versions of Debian (Etch, Lenny, and Sid. 32 bit, and 64bit).

If you really want to keep your setup exactly the same, please search the forums to find out the problems others went through. Then post your log files and I will take a look and see if I can't help out more.

    Have fun!
