    Installation failure

    Hello
I'm french, also excuse my english :/
I follow the manual, but I have a problem to install Zabbix 1.4.5.

I execute the configure command (step 4, page 42 in the manual):
    ./configure --enable-server --enable-agent --with-mysql --with-net-snmp –with-jabber –with-libcurl
    I modify it:
    ./configure --enable-server --enable-agent --with-mysql --with-net-snmp --with-libcurl
because Jabber is not installed on my server, and the --and – are differents (but these two command lines has been used, and i have errors)

    The configure command terminate by:
    checking for curl-config... no
configure: error: Not found Curl library

I have Makefile.am and Makefile.in in current folder, but the make command (like make install ...) cannot run properly.

    Can you help me?

(But an ICC problem is possible... (ICC: Interface Chaise Clavier in french / a Keyboard/Chair Interface )

Well, do you have libcurl installed?

Even if you do, you might get errors like this. Try searching the forums for help, it's been talked about several times.

      Thank you for your answer

er, for libcurl, i'm not sure...
an apt-get install libcurl terminate with a message like "packet not found" (exactely "E: Impossible de trouver le paquet libcurl").

But, with the packet manager, i can see "curl" and "libcurl3" installed yet (but not "libcurl" ).

As far as I remember, the package you need is called "libcurl3-gnutls-dev", which will probably pull in other packages. However, this might not be enough -- there's a know problem and a known solution to this libcurl mess, you'll have to search for that if things still don't work.

hmm, maybe I got it wrong. What you need are the libcurl dev libraries. Or you could simply try "--without-libcurl". What about "apt-get install libcurl3-gnutls-dev"? What about "apt-cache search libcurl"?

For these types of questions, IRC is often much quicker.

I am running Debian Lenny (testing) and here is what I have:
              #apt-cache search libcurl
              *snip*
              libcurl3 - Multi-protocol file transfer library (OpenSSL)
libcurl3-dbg - libcurl compiled with debug symbols
              libcurl3-gnutls - Multi-protocol file transfer library (GnuTLS)
libcurl4-gnutls-dev - Development files and documentation for libcurl (GnuTLS)
libcurl4-openssl-dev - Development files and documentation for libcurl (OpenSSL)
              *snip*

My guess is this: The old package that was suggested (and is in the Zabbix Debian Wiki) was libcurl3-dev. That package now points to libcurl4-openssl-dev; so this would be the package I would choose. I don't have time right now, but in a few days I can do a fresh rebuild and test that if you want but I have a feeling it will work just fine.

              Have fun!
