Zabbix User not recognized!

I have an odd problem. I created the zabbix user and when I try to start the zabbix_agentd it tells me the user does not exist. I deleted and readded, checked permissions on the passwd and shadow files, reloaded the binary in case of curruption and verified permissions. Nothing seems to work. I set up 5 other machines before this one with no problems. Any ideas as to what is going on here???

Fixed It, Sort OF!!

The user didnt have a shell. I can at least now su into the zabbix user and start the zabbix_agentd. It still tells me the zabbix user does not exist if I try to start it while Im logged in as root.

why do you log in as the zabbix user


dont do that blow away the passwd and start the zabbix daemon via command line or write a script

su -c zabbix_user /usr/local/bin/zabbix_suckerd
