Windows template items "not supported by Zabbix agent"

hi

i just finished my zabbix installation and added some hosts to monitor;
i mainly want to monitor windows boxes so i use the Windows template;
is it normal that some of the items in this template are reported as "not supported by Zabbix agent" ?
for exemple :
system[procrunning]
proc_cnt[httpd]
perf_counter[\Physical Disk(_Total)\Avg. Disk Read Queue Length]

i use zabbix 1.4.2 on a ubuntu server - i installed zabbix using "apt-get install zabbix-server-mysql "
windows agents are zabbix_agents_1.4.4.windows.i386.tar.gz

Are they truely not returning values? Check in latest data screen to verify. There was a bug in 1.4 that has been fixed that would not clear the error message after the items started working again. You should really upgrade to 1.4.6

the problem is that i'm really not a linux guru and i don't know how to update to 1.4.6 version ... is there an upgrade procedure somewhere ? i already looked for this in the zabbix manual but didn't really find a step-by-step procedure for dummies

Hi,


The most secure way to do an upgrade is:

- backup your ZABBIX database (mysqlump can help);
- backup your ZABBIX binaries (zabbix_agent zabbix_agentd zabbix_get zabbix_sender zabbix_server);
- backup your ZABBIX GUI (frontends/php);

After this remove 1.4.2 and install 1.4.6, follow the install intructions but do not populate (schema/data) MySQL database because we didnt have changes in databse schema in 1.4.4 -> 1.4.6 (MySQL).


The worst situation is go back (with backups) and stay with 1.4.2.

thanks but the problem is that i was unable to install version 1.4.6 "from scratch" on my ubuntu box ; that's why i tried the standard package; this one installed correctly but it's version 1.4.2

(when tried to install version 1.4.6 i got an error about a missiong MySQL library or something like that ...)

Did you try following the steps in the wiki?

You can also try following them to do the upgrade (just skip the database portions).

Change the data type to "text", so you can check what is sending the agent to the zabbix server. Also you can check the zabbix_server.log, search for the ip address of those machines, so you can see a better message about whats going on with those values.
