    Windows Zabbix_AgentD 1.6 - Stops

    Windows Zabbix_AgentD 1.6 - Stops

The 1.6 32-bit Windows zabbix_agentd.exe version 1.6 in the bin directory starts but suddenly stops right after a perfmon counter error. Please let me know if you need more information from the logs. This was tested on windows 2003. Also, has anyone else experienced this same behavior?

Is this a general problem with 1.6 Agent? If so then it will be a show-stopper in upgrading for us since most of the systems we monitor are windows based.

Can a 1.4 agent be used with a 1.6 server?

              Hello ..

I test agent 1.6 on 3 servers (32 and 64bits) and crash after some minutes...

              I roll back to 1.4.5 ...

1.6 agent works realy fine on all linux servers..

                Same thing here..

                Hey there...

I have a Server 2003 SP2 machine and I have the same exact problem you reported: my agent crashes after trying to query for a Performance Counter that doesnt even use strange characters..

When I switched back to 1.4.6 everything worked great again

This is the error I get: (Portuguese localized version...)

Unable to add performance counter "\Processador(_Total)\% de tempo do processador" to query: Não existe um argumento necessário ou este está incorrecto.

                Thanks in advance,

I think this is a zabbix agent bug.

                  this command runnicg perfectly:
                  C:\typeperf "\Prozessor(_Total)\Prozessorzeit (%)"

                  "(PDH-CSV 4.0)","\\SCALA-PROD\Prozessor(_Total)\Prozessorzeit (%)"

The performance counter related problems is a real headache. We fixed ("fixed") it many times and I am sorry to hear it does not work on some system. It does work in our test environment.

Well, this has to be fixed asap.

                        Performance Counters

                        Hello, Alexei!

I am a Certified Microsoft Systems Engineer, and I also have this problem.

Please tell me what kind of test platform did you use: patch level, OS version, OS language, etc..

The language of the OS is relevant to the problem because Windows XP / Server actually keeps all the english Performance Counters installed on the system, and another localized copy that is used by the Performance Monitor API.

I have found absolutely no way to use the English counters, but until now I could even read in 1.4.6 counters with portuguese characters like:

                        \Memória\Bytes de cache
                        \Processador\Tempo de interrupção

Maybe your test platform has some software update that broke the Performance Monitor API, or changed it someway.

I use, mostly, Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 SBS Edition, R2.

Thanks in advance for all the help,

                              Hi
