Hello all,

I can't seem to get this straight:

- i have one host and 1 item: simplecheck -> ping

What's the correct way of adding an item to an host? Do you have to create the host first than the items and than the trigger and than the action?

Also, the message interval of the escalation doesn't work properly, if i enter secs 180 i get two messages in two minutes and if i select 300 seconds i get 1 message every 3 minutes?

Why aren't the settings of an action automatically updated and parsed immediatly?

How do you disable/enable an item correctly? If i modified an action and it doesn't get parsed i just disable the host for monitoring, now if i enable it again it comes up with the event/trigger data from before???

The manual isn't correct about the actions either, it tells 'repeats' but repear is nowehere to be found. Step / From ^ To ^ Period is nowhere to be found in the manual?

I was pretty enthusiastic about 1.6 but i'm only getting more and more dissapointed.

ideally you would assign items to templates, then link those templates to hosts. you can also create items directly at hosts

um, how do you do that incorrectly ? just go to configuration->items, and either click on corresponding 'status' column entries, or mark them & use buttons at the bottom.
