    Zabbix 1.6 Multiple Template problem

Hi, I'm new to Zabbix, but like it so far. I've hit a problem and i'm wondering if it's something I'm doing wrong or it's a bug.

I've added a Linux system to be monitored and added the Template_Linux. Everything works fine. Then I added Template_Tomcat, since the server also runs an instance of Tomcat. Template adds fine, and if I go in to the Items part, I can see the Tomcat+Linux items. However, when I go to the monitoring screen I only see the Linux items showing up, there aren't any of the Tomcat ones. Also I cannot add any Graphs to the host that has the Tomcat+Linux template.

Got any suggestions? I've installed Zabbix 1.6 from source, this isn't an upgrade, it's a fresh install.

    Dear hughmcl,

You need to have Zapcat installed in the VM. The VM then needs to be configured as a separate host in Zabbix. By default Zapcat listens on port 10052.

You cannot have one host that has both Zapcat and Linux items. This is by design.

Well the point is that i'm not even seeing the Tomcat options on the zabbix monitoring page.

Is zapcat needed for all multiple templates?

No, Zapcat is only needed to be able to monitor JMX items in JVM's. Zabbix does multiple templates just fine.

Remember that you are dealing with two agents, not one. One is zapcat and one is zabbix's own

Is it possible to monitor both agents?? Can anyone confirm any success on this? I can't get it to work.
