Graphs missing data/gaps on short timespan views

    Hello,

I've recently upgraded from Zabbix 1.4.5 to 1.6. However, I've had this issue ever since I started using Zabbix, so I'm thinking maybe this is a feature.

Problem: graphs looks nice in week view, but the day view reveals that the data has loads of gaps.

I don't really have any errors in zabbix_server.log, occassional "Error doing curl_easy_perform [a timeout was reached]" but that's about it.

Any clues if this can be fixed?

Go to Latest value screen and check if graphed items have data for those time of gaps..

Something's definately wrong. I browsed back the graph from latest value screen. Setting the period as 1d shows averaged graph up until 18.7.2008. Clicking next produces a line graph without gaps. Then after 22.7.2008. the line graph starts getting gaps.

Looking at the latest data screen, I see that some of the "last check" values are 15-60 minutes in the past but some are 15-60 minutes in the future (?).

I also attached the host item for the graphs attached. Any idea what could be happening?

I meant not graphs but value as text represented, select "values of specified period".

Ok, here's a screenshot of the latest values. Seems like in the morning it collected the data every 10 seconds briefly and then started collecting it about once an hour.

So the problem not in the graphs!

I just found an old thread suggesting some things to try. I noticed I had a huge amount (over 500) waiting in "More than 10 minutes" queue for "ZABBIX agent". I increased all update intervals and increased the amount of pollers (from 20 to 30). I also increased amount of agent processes on all monitored machines from 5 to 8.

Now, if I restart the Zabbix server. The "more than 10 minutes" queue starts to fill up slowly. The first item in the queue seems pretty random (different hosts, different items).

After adjusting nearly everything tunable, I finally changed all items to active agents. Seems like most values are registering properly now.

Just go to Configuration / Items and select the template you've used or the hosts directly. The mass update and set type to "ZABBIX Agent (active)".

I'm not sure if tuning the server, MySQL server or agent parameters did any good...
