    SNMP Help

    Guys.

I have found a very interesting article and if it works will solve my issues with Zabbix which would be great as im itching to use this product in the live environment.

    Please take a read of

Windows and the applications that run on it use the event log repository to record all kinds of significant system events. Unfortunately, trying to pull information out of multiple event logs in a way that is both timely and usable can be difficult and convoluted. There is a way to use SNMP technology already bundled into Windows to generate lightweight alerts against pre-selected events, however, thus providing the basis for a flexible and scalable notification system that can work with existing network management tools.

I have an SNMP OID of

    1.3.6.1.4.1.311.1.13.1.8.83.101.99.117.114.105.116 .121

which has been generated as per that web link using evntwin.exe for exactly the windows event i am trying to capture.

When i try to set this up in Zabbix i am unsure what to set as the key

    Description Windows Event 632
    Type SNMP v1 Agent
    SNMP community public
    SNMP OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.311.1.13.1.8.83.101.99.117.114.105.116 .121
    SNMP port 161
    Key
    Type of information Numeric (float)

Can someone please help me with this as i have all my fingers and toes crossed that i can get this working and for Zabbix to be the product of choice for me.

    Thanks

    Craig

    You could try:

    Key enterprises.311.1.13.1.8.83.101.99.117.114.105.116
Disclaimer: All of the above is pure speculation.
