Zabbix 1.4.6 just stops logging data

I have a strange problem I'm seeking help with. In setting up a new monitoring server, I've used Debian Lenny and apt-get installed zabbix-mysql, and several other apps. I configured zabbix first and was logging data from one router. after I finished configuring the other applications (none of which use mysql) I noted that zabbix had stopped logging. I restarted the zabbix process, nothing. restarted mysql, nothing. rebooted the server, uninstalled and reinstalled zabbix, mysql, manually created a new database, and yet I still have a running zabbix process, no errors, and nothing being recorded. my log files are looking perfectly normal and I'm at a loss where to look. I would prefer not to start over as this machine has mrtg, smokeping, flowscan, rsyslog, and tacacs already configed on it also. I would appreciate any advice one what to try. The system WAS logging data. on Friday morning it just stopped and no coaxing is getting it to start again.

I've searched the forum and none of the issues seem to fit. I get no errors from mysql connections, everything in the install screen tests out, the process isn't dieing, it's just like all the data goes to dev/null.

ok, in hopes of helping someone else out, I found a fix to get my zabbix working again. I had to select purge for an option in aptitude and reinstall with a clean mysql database. something broke, I'ev no idea what or why as all I have using it is zabbix. But with a fresh start, it's logging again.
