zabbixw32 not starting on windows 2003 std

    Hi all,

The win32 service is not starting for me ..

    zabbixw32 check-config Returns ok status
    zabbixw32 standalone Returns as below

[10-Aug-2005 13:44:16] Unable to add performance counter
    "\UnknownPerformanceCounter(_Total)\UnknownPerform anceCounter"
to query: The specified object is not found on the system.

This agent config and exe works fine on my windows xp pro desktop ... just not on any of the windows 2003 server's I've tried.

    Server Version is 1.1alpha11

Just a note ... there is a typo on one the mysql schema or data file on line 699

    Appreciate any help

I just found this link in the archives..

which says the problem is the hostname length...

Does anyone have a better work around than renaming my servers ... I'd be really greatful for any help.

    Thanks

      Hi all,

I still can't resolve this issue. Can anyone help me with it. I have about 80+ windows 2003 servers which have the following naming convension to conform with our AD policy.

      apnrnpmcyxxxxxx

I have renamed one servers to a shorter name for testing purposes and this allowed the agent to run successfully.

Does anyone have a compiled win32 agent which will accept longer hostnames.

I can't for obvious reasons rename all my servers.

I would really appreciate any help or advise. Especially if this is something which is just not possible so I can focus on a different solution.

I've added additional debug information for tracing this problem. Please, download the latest agent from www.zabbix.com/downloads, specify LogFile and run the agent.

        Thanks.

I forgot to mention that I did one minor code modification. The change may potentionally fix the problem. Please, test it and let me know if it works as expected. Thanks.

            Hi Alex,

thanks for helping. I have downloaded and run as you mentioned with the following output in the logfile.

            ************************************************** ************
            [20-Aug-2005 19:27:09] Log file opened
[20-Aug-2005 19:27:09] Unable to add performance counter "\UnknownPerformanceCounter(_Total)\UnknownPerform anceCounter" to query: The specified object is not found on the system.

This is a dual processor server... does that matter.
