Templates on child node not on master

I created several templates under the child node within the master node web gui, but when I switch back to the master node I no longer see these templates.
The only way to see these templates is to switch back to the child node.
I was under the impression that the child node sends configs every 120 seconds. So I'm under the impression that these templates didn't get pushed to the master? Is there a way to "sync" the nodes configs?

I'm running v 1.6.4 under centos 5.2

Any help would be appreciated.

If you create templates on child node(under master node) they stays as template on child node. They shouldn't appear under Master node

So if you create a template you meant to be global under a subnode you have to manually export and reimport on the master?

Does any one else think this is inefficient?
