no graphs on frontend

after a fresh install of zabbix server (1.6.4) and frontend on a new server (Archlinux), there are no graphs displayed. All tests of front-end initialization passed, gd and zlib installed and enabled in php.ini.

How can I find out what's missing

Yep, search on "Frontend no graph" give 500 threads, only one of them covers my problem exactly:

and indeed it solved the problem with this instruction:
"I suspect that your /path/to/phpfiles/conf/zabbix.conf.php ends with null line with 0x0a.
If so, terminate this conf file with '?>' without linefeeding."
