    Cannot connect to [<IP>]:10050 [No route to host]

    Hi,

    have a little problem (i hope its little) with monitoring windows server machines and a switch

    Zabbix server works for some days fine but now i got no data from the host and i don“t know why.

    Here is the error message in zabbix:

    Code:
    Get value from agent failed: *** Cannot connect to [<IP>]:10050 [No route to host]
    I also have a switch to monitor, here i got following error:

    Code:
    Timeout while connecting to [<IP>:161]
    If i know did a snmpwalk to the windows server machine i got this:

    Code:
    DEBIAN:~# snmpwalk -v 1 -c public 192.168.100.10
    Timeout: No Response from 192.168.100.10
    DEBIAN:~#
    If i make this for the switch got many IF-MIB messages so thats working i think. But why i got no monitoring on the Zabbix webfrontend ?

    I dont know snmpwalk much..... what can i do to make some checks?

    The agents on the windows machines working and the config file is not wrong because for some days i got monitoring.

    Here is the config file:

    Code:
    Server=192.168.100.100
    ServerPort=10051
    Hostname=WSRV01
    ListenPort=10050
    StartAgents=5
    EnableRemoteCommands=1
    DebugLevel=4
    LogFile=C:\Program Files\Zabbix Agent/Zabbix_agentd.log
    Timeout=5
    Is the serverport 10051 or 10050?

    a telnet to the server works with "telnet <server> 10050" but bot with 10051....

    Need help plz.

    Regards
    woisch

    Solved

    Ok, after setting up a new debian server with a fresh zabbix installation it works now.

    Only the problem with the switch is still alive. Any suggestions ? Its a Cisco 2960 Switch.

    I`ve already done this on the the switch:

    Code:
    snmp-server community public ro
    snmp-server host <ip of Zabbix_server> version 2c public udp-port 162
    snmp-server enable traps
    and if i make a snmpwalk i get some answers.

      default server port is 10051, agent - 10050.
      as for snmp problem, verify that community is set correctly. are the successful snmpwalk runs performed from zabbix server ?

        Hmmm i have set it to "public" i think that is standard. I havent set it anywhere ?

        I dont know which are the right "snmpwalk runs" . Is there anywhere a tutorial or so ? Or could you tell me how i set the right community and perform some smnpwalks ?

        Thanks for helo.

          well, if you use also 'public' for snmpwalk, then it should work. i'd suggest doublechecking snmp support in server (see server log shen server starts up), though i'd expect it to be there if the message is about timeout.
          other checks - try to set debuglevel to 4 and having only that item enabled, maybe logfile provides some more useful information about the failure.

            Hmm... how could i set the debug level on a switch to 4 ? On servers i have to edit the conf file but what it is on a cisco switch?

            how could i solve the problem.... i only want to monitor some ports on the switch... :-/

              Is there someone who has an idea? I think i`m not the only one who wants to monitor a cisco switch with zabbix

              UPDATE:

              OK, it was the community string.... i double checked it.... now the only problem is that in the zabbix template FastEthernet ports are shown and only two gigabit ports.... the two ethernetports works fine but the fast ethernet shown this issue:

              OID [.1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.16.10009] value has unknow type [0x81]

                snmpwalk the switch and check that the interfaces it has match with whatever template you're using.
