    Can screens be backed up

    This is with 1.6.5.

I ran into an issue where I mass updated a bunch of hosts with a new template (selecting the already existing linked templates the hosts were already using as well). I noticed two things..

1.) All data for those existing items was lost and started over.

2.) The screen i had created for one of those existing templates got wiped. It was a screen that used simple graphs in each frame of the screen.

Question, is the first issue a bug?
On the second issue, can I back up screens in case this happens again?

    Thanks.

When you say "mass updated" do you mean using the "Mass update" function ?

If you delete items and recreate them (with the very same parameters) all history will be gone.

Same if you unlink (delete!) and link to another template (which may contain the same items).

So what did you exactly do ?

      I went to configuration->Hosts
Selected some hosts. They already have the template linked.
      I selected mass update
      checked "link with template"
      clicked add
selected that original template plus one new one
      hit select
      then save

noticed all item history from the original template started over i.e. lost history.

In a previous situation I did not add that original template and the items were thus deleted. This behavior wasn't quite expected either.

I got bitten by that bug twice in one week.
The bug is marked as 'Critical', but it should be marked 'Disaster'!!. 12 months data lost in one click of the button.
          Here's my post: http://www.zabbix.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13104

Let's hope this gets fixed real soon.
