Sync problems between master and slave

Using zabbix 1.6, sporadically, the nodes won't sync anymore. I can see lin the logs that the child send data to the master, but master do not update.

Also the child node do not update it's triggers. I mean, I configured an item and trigger for a dhcp server running on windows. If I shut down the server, the triggers do not go off. Also, I configured that in a template and that template do not get sync on the master.

So, I guess I'm asking, is there a way to safely reinitialise a child node without zapping the configuration on it? There is a lot of work involve in configuring all the hosts, printers and appliances.

      Thanks for your reply.

I removed the template from the host with a "clean history" and then added it back and it seem to work.

Well, it did not fix correctly it seems. I think it has to do with the fact that I renamed the host on the child node (I just changed the capitalization of the host name). Not talking about the dns name, I'm talking about the host name in zabbix.

The monitor screen from the master shows the host trigger status all to unknown while on the child node they show up as green. Also, the notifications coming from the master can catch notifications for that host, but {HOSTNAME} is UNKNOWN.

Maybe delete the host and recreate it?
