    SNMP to Syslog Conversion

    Hi,

I am using Zabbix to monitor all of my devices in a distributed environment using SNMP. I have a very powerful syslog server (Q1Labs) and was wondering if Zbbix had the ability to convert the SNMP data into syslog and forward the new syslog data to my syslog server?

    Thanks

    What SNMP data ?
    SNMP traps ?

To "convert" traps to syslog messages, you'd better look ad snmptrapd. And unless you want traps to be sent to both zabbix and syslog, you don't need to have zabbix interfere in any way.

Its been a while since I looked at it but I am pretty sure the Q1labs product takes SNMP traps as an input.

My main issue here is using MIBs or OIDs as you can in Zabbix. I dont think you can do that in Q1Labs therefore I would like the data from zabbix forwarding to Q1 as syslog.

SNMP values I am using are interfaces bytes and cpu util, sessions etc. Also simple checks such as ping and latency

Instead of SNMP->syslog another way you could do this is to query the database for values, again Q1Labs should be able to do that as well via the ODBC connector.

Slightly off topic how are you liking the Q1 product? I really liked what I saw in the demo, I just didnt like the price!
