    Zabbix server can't monitor itself!

    Hi,

I need help with a small problem I have @ work. At work we use rBuilder build of Zabbix 1.4 (http://www.rpath.org/project/zabbix/release?id=5630) to monitor our data center (UPS, routers, servers, switches, Internet traffic,...).

The Zabbix server has 2 networks cards. One card is connected to our private network and has an IP address of 10.102.xxx.xxx while the other network card is connected to the public network and has an IP address of 83.xxx.xxx.xxx

The problem we are facing is that the server doesn't monitor itself. All the time we get an error message displays "Cannot connect to [127.0.0.1:xxxxx] [Connection refused]". I have checked zabbix log file and the same error is logged there.

I did couple of tests on our test environment. I have even put a rule in the firewall to allow connections to port xxxxx, though it should work without that rule since it is talking to itself, but no success. During one of the tests, I found out that the test server was able to monitor itself with only one network card active.

I appreciate any help solving this problem

    Thx

In your zabbix_server.conf try using the real IP addresses rather that 127.0.0.1

    Zabbix Server = 10.102.xxx.xxx,83.xxx.xxx.xxx

thx MrKen for your reply. I couldn't find "Zabbix Server = " in /ect/zabbix/zabbix_server.conf

All i was able to find is "Listen IP" and "Listen Port" are these what you are talking about?

      thx

        Sorry, my mistake. Try /etc/zabbix/zabbix_agentd.conf
at the top where it says: Server=
