    Configuration of Hosts -

    Dear all

    First of all i have just joined the forum and i have just started to use Zabbix today. I have setup 1 host on zabbix nothing more that a laptop.

    Win2000 (No firewall)

    I am using Zabbix Reference Manual Version 1.00 to help me with the setup and configuration of Zabbix.

    HOSTS:

    Hosts curently complains that my laptop named ASERGENT is unreachable.

    ID HOST PORT STATUS ACTIONS
    10010 ASERGENT 10001 Unreachable Change

    I have checked my zabbix_agentd.conf file and these are the following active lines in the script.

    Server=192.168.151.101

    ListernPort=10001

    StartAgents=5

    DebugLevel=3

    PidFile=/var/tmp/zabbix_agentd.pid

    Logfile=/tmp/zabbix_agentd.log

    Timeout=3

    I have also checked the zabbix_agentd.log file this just tells me that the service has started?

    ZabbixW32.exe has been loaded on to my Win2000 pc and it has loaded fine.
    I can see it in services and it has started.

    ITEMS:

    I have a number of Items listed and would appear to be Active.

    TRIGGERS:

    I have a number of Triggers Listed and the status tells me it's Enabled.

    Network Map:

    My Laptop is shown here ok but is listed as Unreachable?

    I will keep looking around this site to see if i can solve this problem as i beleive that the problem here is me not understanding it properly.

    If anyone can guide me or tell me what the problem actually is i would be very greatful.

    Kindest Regards

    Greetings,

    Right off the bat, I suspect the issue is being caused by the agent either blocking the connections or by the server not attempting to hit the agent.

    Under the hosts section in the Zabbix UI, please check to ensure that the host name you are trying to use does resolve to your laptop. You can test this with nslookup or the host command. If it does resolve, check to make sure that your laptop really is listening to that address.

    Another thing to check is to watch through the zabbix_agentd.conf log file. Look for the server connection attempts. If you get the connection attempts, then it is most likely an error in your Server line in the zabbix_agentd.conf file. If you do not see the connection attempts, then you most likely want to check the port setting in for the host in the Zabbix UI.

    Hope this helps.
