    - create a user called testa
    - create a usergrp called testuser
    - put hostgroup in usergroup (read/write)

      Hi RichLV,

I think the ZBX-1409 does not apply here. I am also unable to see any hosts, but instead of an error message I am getting a JSP error on IE:

      Line: 15
      Char: 1
      Error: Ojbect expected
      Code: 0

yes, Firefox just gives a blank window when I request a list of hosts. IE at least gives me a JS error in the lower left hand corner.

could you try with frontend from svn, just to make sure the issue is still there ?

              Hi Rich,

I have tried to install the frontend from CVS this morning, but no luck so far. Once I check out the frontend from CVS, it seems to contain fewer files/dirs than the official frontend. This is the command I am using:

              cvs -z3 -dserver:[email protected]:/cvsroot/zabbix co -P zabbix/frontends/php

If I try to run this incomplete frontend, it gives me the following error message:

Error connecting to database [Access denied for user 'apache'@'localhost' (using password: NO)]

I suspect some part of the config is missing. Please could you give me a few hints on how to proceed. Also, I am using the CentOS 5.4 with php 5.1.6 so I think I will be affected by the MBString problem.

              Thanks.

that's some awfully ancient zabbix repository... current repository can be found at svn://svn.zabbix.com
                maybe http://www.zabbix.com/wiki/contrib/getting_source helps some
after checking out the new frontend i'd suggest just copying over the frontend config file from the existing one.

mbstring would only affect installer in your case, although which db are you using ?

                  Hi Rich,

that CVS repo is advertised on the following page: http://sourceforge.net/projects/zabbix/develop

While trying to get the trunk from svn, I am getting an error message. Is it just me? My PC does not have any problems accessing any other hosts on the internet.

                  # svn co svn://svn.zabbix.com/trunk
svn: Can't connect to host 'svn.zabbix.com': Connection timed out

                  Thanks,
                  Martin

                    Is SVN repository down?

                    Hi,

I am trying to follow richlv's suggestion to see if the php frontend from SVN resolves an issue with hosts.php (no content is displayed). Unfortunatelly, I have been unable to reach the repository since Friday. It simply times out.

I am trying the following command:

                    svn co svn://svn.zabbix.com/trunk

Please tell me if I am doing something wrong or is the host simply down?

                    Thank you.

does it work for you now ? can you access any other svn repository using svn port (not http[s]) ?

                        Hi Rich,

thanks for being patient with me. Your post about http/svn made me understood that I am having a firewall restriction on the SVN port.

Having downloaded the 1.9 frontend I can see that the hosts.php problem is still there. I am getting a blank screen.

What is the best way from here? Thanks.

                          1. check apache/php logs;
                          2. grab exact error with either opera error console or firebug extension for firefox;
                          3. try with latest versions of firefox, opera

if you don't see any errors that hint at what the problem is, report on the tracker, including all the above information as well.

                            Hi Rich,

The apache log file has provided me with a clue. I believe that the problem was caused by the insufficient memory setting in php.ini. While upgrading from zabbix 1.6 to 1.8, I did not change the memory_limit from 16M to 256M. As I am running CentOS 5.4 I had to manually configure the zabbix.conf.php and that way the parameters were not checked by the install progam.

Thank you for all your help, much appreciated.
