[1.6.5] GUI: "ZABBIX was down" Message

Hi

does somebody know what the message in the web frontend
page Configuration/Triggers
"Error: ZABBIX was down"
means ?

The trigger does not work, although values arrive which should
result in an event.

The trigger thresholds are not shown in the "Latest data" graph.

I've always ignored this warning but would also be interested in some explanation.
